The perfect team — Funny. Creative. Smart. Detailed. We really are the whole package.
An entrepreneur at heart her first business was launched as a young girl living in the country selling eggs to neighbors, and get this, she delivered them on horseback! 27 years in the biz, this CMP spent the first 10 years managing group travel for a meetings management firm and the next 15 years with Grand Connection before launching Destination Consultants in 2014. In 1999, during her year on the road as a TD, she dreamed of the day she could open her own business. Today she's living the dream, loving her job and making friends one client at a time. Career highlights include implementing an event that required building a ballroom sized platform over water and then decorating it down to the smallest perfect detail. Additionally she worked tirelessly to implement a destination trip for a client group, culminating with surprise entertainment by James Taylor. Not one to shy away from hard work and complex jobs, she constantly challenges her team to re-think the way things have always been done to offer clients the most unique experiences.

Marybeth's strong organizational skills really round out the team's offerings at Destination Consultants. Maybe it was raising 9 kids or perhaps it was her experience working in events at Steelcase - all we know is that this classy lady has got mad organization skills. She supports our project teams with keeping budget, floor plans and other planning documents up-to-date and also assists our design team by managing and organizing our growing inventory of event décor items. Additionally Marybeth assists with day to day office management duties. You know how a 6-pack has that plastic thing that holds the cans together? Well that's our Marybeth -- although she's not plastic she's pure gold.
This former group travel guide, wedding planner and travel agent brings a special set of skills to our team. Mary works with spreadsheets day in and out, need a manifest sorted alphabetically by departure date & time? How about breaking that data into sub-groups on a spreadsheet to assign vehicles for transfers? Not a problem! Mary understands more about the data, where it comes from, and how to anticipate and solve issues before they happen - because she was a travel agent for many years. She wins over clients by bringing cost savings measures to the table through her thorough analysis of schedules and passenger counts. Update: Mary is on a break from work while dedicating herself full time to her family. We don't have the heart to remove her profile as she could be back helping out here and there at any given moment!
Drawing from a portfolio of work that includes advance team to the former Vice President of the United States and Governor Rick Snyder, Chip's grasp of logistics will impress the most seasoned planner. Whether it's meeting that VIP group at customs and expediting group check-in to mapping out every detail of a torch run or military fly over -- you are in the most capable hands with Chip. Often times the most overlooked aspect of an event is the logistical complexity; in our world change is the norm. Nothing ever goes as planned, when details change you need someone with experience to roll out the back-up plan. Anyone who has ever worked with Chip knows he always has plan B in has hip pocket. In his other hip pocket is plan C. Plan for every contingency, roll with the changes and never lose your cool is the name of his game.
Hanna interned with us during the summer of 2015 and was a fantastic addition to team DC! In fact our clients were so happy with her work that we decided to hire her the day she graduated from Michigan State University's The School of Hospitality Business. Hanna's enthusiasm is contagious and she's not afraid to jump right in and assist our team. She came to us with not only an impressive attitude but some great credentials. Her work history includes front line service waiting tables at Egypt Valley Country Club and VIP Suite Coordinator at Ford Field. Hanna is an Account Manager specializing in outbound Destination Event Planning and Incentive Travel programs for groups. She's currently working on trips to Costa Rica, Punta Cana and Riviera Maya. Her other duties include designing registration websites for her clients and assisting our team with groups traveling to Grand Rapids. We are so happy to have Hanna on our team.
Recent college grad Graham has stayed on with us past his internship to work on special projects until he lands his dream job planning music festivals or traveling the world as a famous drummer in a rock band. As a recent graduate of Aquinas College with the combination of Business, Sustainability and Music degrees he has brought such an amazing mix of skills to the team. His work as audio visual technician at Aquinas College is what caught our eye, just having someone around who knows how to speak the tech language is a huge plus! He has been assisting Hanna with the website design and data management for the large groups we manage. If you ask Graham if he can help with something his answer is always, "okay, yeah, for sure" --- and we LOVE that about him!
